PARK "LES MAMELLES" ZOO PARK OF GUADELOUPE
Les Mamelles, evocative name, the name of the massif where you will find the zoological park of Guadeloupe. It is essentially a zoo, but not only. Its location, along the road La Traversee naturally locates it amidst the rainforest which allows visitors to walk among the plant species while discovering the animals of Guadeloupe and tropical regions.
While it was fairly poor in the early 2000s this park has greatly improved in its presentation, its warm welcome and diversity. It now houses more than 80 animal species of tropical areas, mainly Caribbean and Guyana.
The visit takes place in a pleasant walk on a slatted route to cross areas devolved to various types of species, some very symbolic but unobservable on natural environment.
We begin with the racoons, mongooses, and throughout, birds, reptiles, insects, felines, monkeys ... and more!
The animals are great and easily visible without gene for them or danger for visitors. An alternate trail allows to see the highest park with footbridges in the canopy. The idea is excellent for walking but the animals are not more visible.
A single complaint in our view the enclosures of the felines which are too cramped for them, as shown by the behavior of the ocelot who paces its space, which is always a sign of stress.
On leaving a nice shop with a lot of nice goods for children and adults and a restaurant on the other side of the road.
To access it this is elementary. The park is located in the town of Bouillante, on the road of La Traversée. By entering it from Mahaut, south of Pointe Noire, following a succession of tight corners, after about 10 minutes the park entrance, designated by signs, is on the left.
Coming from the east, Petit Bourg, you must drive on the road, through the pass of Les Mamelles and down towards Bouillante. Shortly before the arrival the park is indicated on the right. parking inside or opposite.
