PLANTATION GRAND CAFE

The plantation Grand Café is the perfect place if you dont want to see coffee! Because though he kept this name, the estate has for many years given up coffee farming to concentrate on the banana.

Over about thirty hectares are devoted to banana fields with plants in various stages of completion.

Close to the reception stands the building processing of the harvest. The activity in this building is essential since it involves checking picked fruit, because they have to address specific requirements before being shipped: shape, appearance, absence of spots, state of progress enabling them to travel and reach the ripening plant while still green. Bananas are then washed and packaged.

The French Caribbean banana is recovering from the controversies about the use of some pesticides and the producers try to restore its image and particularly come as close as possible to the Organic Food.

The plantation can be visited, Monday to Friday, between 10.30am and 4.30pm, upon reservation. A guided walk and complete explanations of the chain and its processing on board a large cart towed by a tractor, takes you among crops. The conditioning post harvesting is also much described and tasting of fruits and juice is of course inlcluded  in the very friendly store.Oneshould by the way enjoy the salon of the mansion in colonial style. A whole atmosphere!
