ENGRAVED ROCKS PARK

The archaeological Park of Engraved Rocks is located in Trois Rivières on the road going down to the port. The 1-hectare park gathers petroglyphs, testimonies of the Arawak Indians cultures who populated the archipelago prior to the Caribbean Indians. Along the trail you will discover 22 rocks comprising some  230 designs of variable size and accuracy.
The promenade, which can last from 30 minutes to one hour allows to discover the diverse sculptures, frequently pretty, basic, spread across a course with natural boulders and a profusion of tropical plants, representative of the local flora. At the entrance many properly designed information panels recount the Arawak culture, their lifestyle and the discovery of the remains and their whereabouts, some still visible outside of Trois Rivières.
The park was in 1993 still being renovated so the admission was free (we shall check!), but a tip for the guide is the least you can!
