REVE DE SABLE (SAND DREAM)
"Rêve de Sable" (Sand Dream) is a craft workshop next to Pointe Noire, on the west coast of the Basse Terre.
The founder and artist, Michel Coste, has a rather uncommon passion, he is a sand enthusiast, an arenophile in academic language.
Located in a ideal place he translated his passion in an artistic way by using his sensitivity and an innovative technique.
It starts with the collect of the raw material in all places of Guadeloupe, beaches, sea, rivers and the interior of the islands.
He must then separate the various kinds of sand, through a variety of methods quite simple or complicated, even tedious (one of these methods is shown in the video below this page).
It thus provides a very rich palette, both in textures and color, without any addition, no artificial coloring.
Then appears the soul of the artist: he imagines, designs, organizes and, with its technique, composes his work.
The result : paintings of every size, each evidently being unique.
Before looking at the works in photographs let's see how to find him in order to contemplate the real pictures! Easy!
If coming from the South (Basse Terre, Malendure ...) on the top of the hill leading to Pointe Noire, after the turnoff towards the Caraïbes beach, you reach a flat section.
On the right hand, find a road leading to the Maison du Bois, the tourist office and the aquaculture park. After the latter, to your left indicated by a signpost, the workshop-boutique!
Coming from the North, it is just after the exit of Pointe Noire, the first significant road on your left.
The way is indicated by road posts on the main road.
